In Galle, a resilient widow and mother of two faced the daunting challenge of providing for her family with limited resources. As the sole breadwinner, she struggled to earn a stable income while ensuring her children’s wellbeing.
At afi, we believe in empowering individuals to create sustainable livelihoods through our flagship CSR initiative afi cares. The initiative aligns with our commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including but not limited to SDG 01: No Poverty by improving the economy of families and SDG 05: Gender Equality through empowering women to thrive independently.
For our recent afi cares project, we stepped in to offer meaningful and sustainable support to the mother, providing her with a sewing machine so she can launch a tailoring business from home which allows her to earn a steady income to support her children and break the cycle of financial hardship.
