At afi, we define corporate success beyond profitability and choose to engage with society beyond the confines of business. Our flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, afi cares: paving a path for a better tomorrow, combines philanthropy and volunteerism to foster meaningful connections with communities while giving back to those in need.
This month, we conducted an outreach program at The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind, Ratmalana. We distributed various essentials to assist the students with their day-to-day educational tasks, ensuring they have the necessary resources to thrive. To make the day even more special, we hosted a delightful evening teatime for 150 students, teachers and other staff members of the school.
The initiative aligns with our focus on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 04: Quality Education for All, which aims to ensure equal access to all levels of education for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities … and children in vulnerable situations.
The Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind, Ratmalana is the oldest and largest institution in the country catering to children with special needs. It offers classes from Grade 1 to 13, following the national curriculum, as well as a preschool program. Additionally, it provides special classes for mothers and their children with special needs along with vocational training programs for graduating students to equip them with skills that can help them earn a livelihood.
